125ml water

1 tablespoon dried peppermint

1 drop rosemary essential oil

This gentle cleanser refreshes oily skin. Witch hazel is mildly drying and lemon and grapefruit are fragrant astringents. Aloe is a soothing toner.
60ml distilled witch hazel 
60ml vegetable glycerin
60ml aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon grapefruit essential oil
2 drops lemon essential oil
 Mix the ingredients in a bottle and shake well. Dampen your skin with warm water and gently massage in a lotion. Rinse your skin with tepid water.

04. Aromatherapy astringent

Witch hazel and juniper are mild astringents and reduce excess oil from the skin. Lavender helps normalize oil production.

Combine the ingredients in a bottle and shake well. To use, saturate a cotton cosmetic pad with astringent and gently wipe over skin.

05. Quick skin refresher

Place your toner or stringent into a small spray bottle so you can carry it around with you and mist your skin throughout the day

06. Herbal astringent 

Witch hazel, yarrow and sage are mild astringents. Peppermint refreshes and is antibacterial. Comfrey leaves help heal eruptions of the skin.

250ml distilled witch hazel

2 teaspoon dried yarrow

1 teaspoon dried sage 

1 teaspoon dried peppermint 

1 teaspoon dried comfrey leaf

Combine the ingredients in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Allow the mixture to steep for two weeks in a warm, dark place. Gently shake the jar every day to keep the herbs from settling. Strain, and store in a clean bottle. To use, saturate a cotton cosmetic pad with astringent and gently wipe over the skin. 

07. Aloe vera gel

As soon as you have cleanse your skin and applied a toner, smooth on a layer of refreshing aloe vera gel as a moisturizer. 

08. Aromatherapy moisturizing oil

Cypress and grapefruit essential oils are mild astringents and help regulate the production of oil in the skin

30ml jojoba oil
5 drops cypress essential oil
5 drops grapefruit essential oil 

Mix the ingredients in a small glass pharmacy bottle with a dropper. After cleansing your skin, gently massage two to three drops of the oil on to your damp skin with your fingertips.

09. Fresh parsley and lemon facial sauna


2.5 litres water

20g fresh parsley, chopped

10g chopped fresh peppermint

1/2 lemon, sliced

Bring the water, parsley, peppermint,  and lemon to a boil in a covered pot. Remove from the heat and allow to steep for five minutes. Place the pot on a table, remove the lid, and make a towel tent over your head and the pot to capture the steam. Stay under the tent for ten minutes, taking care to not burn yourself. Finish by cleansing your skin with a facial scrub and warm water or by applying a deep-cleansing mask.

10. Facial sauna

A herbal combination of rosemary, lavender, yarrow, and peppermint makes a refreshing, cleansing facial steam for oily skin.

2.5 litres water

2 tablespoons dried rosemary

2 tablespoons dried lavender

2 tablespoons dried yarrow

1 tablespoon dried peppermint

Bring the water and herbs to a boil in a large covered pot. Remove from the heat and allow the herbs to steep for five minutes. Please the pot on a table, remove the lid, and make towel tent over your head and the steaming pot of herbs. Stay under the tent for ten minutes, taking care to not burn yourself with warm water; apply a toner or a deep cleansing facial mask if desired.

11. Herbal scrub

Apply this herbal scrub each day to help unclog pores and smooth the texture of your skin. Cosmetic clay absorbs excess oil produced by the skin while finely ground oats and almonds gently exfoliate your skin. Lavender, peppermint and comfrey all have antibacterial and astringent properties. The lavender essential oil will also help balance the production of oil in the skin.

75g almonds 

2 tablespoon dried lavender 

1 tablespoon dried peppermint

1 tablespoon comfrey leaf

12. Removing blackheads easily

To ease the removal of blackheads from your face, massage a small amount of jojoba oil into your skin before treating yourself to a facial sauna (see No. 10) The jojoba oil helps to soften the debris and hardened sebum, or oil, that clog up the pores.

13. Aromatherapy facial mask

Cucumber cleans and refreshes oily skin, while cosmetic clay absorbs excess oil produced by the skin. Juniper and lavender essential oils are purifying and help to normalize the production of oil.

2 teaspoon plain low-fat yogurt

1 tablespoon finely chopped cucumber pulp

2 teaspoon cosmetic clay

2 drops lavender essential oil

1 drop juniper essential oil

Combine all the ingredients together and mix the thoroughly into a paste. Cleanse your face and then smooth on the aromatherapy mask. Relax for 15 minutes. Afterwards, remove the paste with warm wet flannel.

Additionally, eating in a nutritious and healthy manner, staying hydrated and avoiding junk food will help your entire body. Since your skin is your largest and most exposed organ, it behooves you to care for it appropriately.
